Bibliography of New Historicism by Caitríona Ní Dhúill
This bibliography consists of a wide range of articles and monographs (over 100 titles) that can be loosely grouped together under the heading ‘New Historicism’. While the perils of labelling are acknowledged, we nevertheless found it useful to consider a broad sample of critical work oriented towards New Historicist priorities, in order to gain an overview of the methodological and theoretical ground common to these texts. The aim of this bibliographic survey is to establish the relevance and usefulness of New Historicism as a theoretical orientation for our research into the history and theory of biography. As the bibliography is by no means exhaustive and is still very much a work-in-progress, we would be grateful for any further references or recommendations. Please send these to office@gtb.lbg.ac.at.

Bibliography: Theory and History of Biography
There is broad consensus that scholarly literature on biography, by contrast to that on autobiography, is an emerging and limited field. In actual fact, however, the discussion of biography has a long history. A comprehensive bibliography, compiled and annotated by Esther Marian, points to the wide variety of historical and theoretical publications that exist on the topic of biography. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for the History and Theory of Biography has made this bibliography available as a downloadable PDF file with the intention of fostering international debate and further publications.
